Start Your Studies to Become a Fertility Awareness Educator and teach the Justisse Method This Year!
Overview of The Fertility Awareness Educator Program
Our Fertility Awareness Educator program is a comprehensive 15-month online training that prepares the students to provide fertility awareness education and teach the Justisse Method. Graduates of the program will be licensed as Justisse Method® instructors.
The training provides an evidence-based understanding and interpretation of fertility biomarkers that allow the confident identification of fertile and infertile days of the menstrual cycle. Students also acquire an understanding of normal and atypical menstrual cycle parameters, and the role of the menstrual cycle in whole-body function and health.
Fertility awareness education naturally touches on general body literacy, sexuality, relationships, reproductive decision‑making, and sometimes health concerns. This is why our program equips students with a broad and general understanding of male and female sexual and reproductive anatomy and physiology, different reproductive planning options, sexual relationships and practices, common reproductive conditions, and historical, cultural and societal factors that shape reproductive options and experiences. Our program ensures future educators can offer informed, sensitive guidance and collaborate effectively with health‑care providers and other professionals.
The training focuses on educating the student to teach clients how to observe, chart, and interpret their menstrual cycle events using a person-centered approach. Students gain skills to support clients in identifying and seeking support for menstrual cycle health challenges but are not trained to provide health consultations or treatments.
At Justisse College International, we are mindful of both the complexity of the field of sexuality and reproduction as well as the responsibility one has as an educator to teach with attention to detail, an open mind and commitment to serve clients as individuals.
The full program has two parallel tracks, one covering the basics of human sexuality and reproduction, and one developing mastery of the Justisse Method, followed by a supervised internship where you begin teaching clients.

Strengths of the program
Founded in 1987, Justisse College International (JCI) was the first secular, Fertility Awareness Educator (FAE) training program. Our curriculum draws from decades of experience.
JCI completed a multi-year, exhaustive review of the literature and methodological update in 2025, publishing new guidebooks and teaching materials to meet the needs of an ever changing landscape of reproductive health.
The FAE program at JCI is a comprehensive, evidence informed, and intellectually robust FAE training.
At Justisse, we are aware of the deep significance this work has for the individual client, and the sensitive nature of the information that can arise when charting. In addition to mastering the Justisse Method, our instructors study the history of women’s health, including political, medical, ethical, emotional and socioeconomic influences. This nuanced education is what we believe makes Justisse Method Instructors some of the best in the field of fertility awareness educators.
Frequently Asked Questions about Our educator training Program
-
The Justisse Method Instructor program is a 15-month online, distance learning program that includes a 6 month supervised internship. The program starts each September. The application deadline is August 1st.
Some program modules are open to everyone. If you complete some of the program modules as standalone courses and later join the full program, your previously completed modules will count toward your studies. This would reduce your workload per month while still being able to complete all the modules required for your FAE certification. While this may take longer to complete, it may be a better fit for some.

Yes, you will want to let your contacts know when you will be starting your internship and market yourself. Occasionally, the college fields requests for those looking to work with an intern and will provide a list of current interns to the potential client. This is not something to be depended upon though and all interns are ultimately responsible for building their client base. Each student must work with a minimum of 6 clients during their internship with at least 6 hours of instruction/consultation per client.
