The Three Sensations
Dry: is associated with:
No Mucus
Smooth: can be associated with:
Vaginal Cell Discharge
Non-Peak Mucus
Lubricative: is associated with:
Peak Mucus
DRY is an obvious sensation. You will feel a halting and slightly abrasive feeling, produced as the tissue is wiped across the perineum. This is the sensation most often felt in the cycle, as there are more dry days than mucus days in healthy cycles.
SMOOTH produces a creamy sensation as the tissue is wiped across the perineum. There is a feeling as if something is there because the tissue now moves easier than with a dry sensation, though it is not slippery. Smooth resembles the feeling of hand lotion or cream.
Important Note: If you have a smooth sensation, yet no mucus can be finger tested off the tissue, it has the same significance as dry.
LUBRICATION is an obvious sensation of slipperiness (gliding, sliding, mucusy) much like raw egg white. When you wipe there is little resistance as the tissue glides easily over the perineum.
